One of the primary ways God is drawing Muslims to Himself is through simple Bible studies that highlight passages of scripture from Creation through the Resurrection. The Waha app (https://waha.app/) contains many story sets that have been translated into dozens of languages. Throughout the 30 days we will pray through these story sets that reveal Jesus, the Word made flesh.
As you read these familiar passages, prayerfully imagine what it would be like to read them for the first time – to see the wisdom, power, beauty, and authority of God and to be drawn to trust in Christ and yield your allegiance to Him.
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.” And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir.” And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
God appears to people and speaks through visions. We also learn that He is trustworthy and obedience to Him is worth giving up anything — including family, land, and country.
We are not counted as righteous based on our deeds, but by our trust and belief in God. We also learn that God chooses to work through humans to bless others and to reach them with His good news.
Narimen had been married for eight years and was unable to have children. Her sister-in-law had three already. When she found out she was pregnant, she was ready to abort because of the cost of raising another child. Narimen pleaded with her to keep the baby, telling her that she would raise the child. The sister-in-law agreed and, as Narimen began to buy things for the baby, her love and hopes for this child grew. When it came time for her sister-in-law to go into labor, she didn’t tell Narimen. Ultimately she changed her mind and kept the baby. Narimen was crushed.
Like Sarah who waited for the fulfillment of God’s promise, throughout the Muslim world, women carry the shame of infertility.
Pray for Christians in this area who are trying to reach Muslims with the good news of Jesus.
L is a believer who has surrendered his life to God and is sincerely striving to resist temptation. He asks for prayer that the Lord would clearly reveal His direction and purpose for his life. He longs to experience God’s presence more deeply, to live with stability, and to walk confidently in God’s will.
Father, just as Romans 4:17 says that Abraham believed God, “the one who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist”, give us eyes of faith to believe for multiplying disciples and churches among this people group.
Raise up believers in Tunisia who, like Abraham, would in hope believe against hope and become the spiritual fathers and mothers of a nation, leading multiplying generations to faith in Christ.
We pray that no unbelief would make Tunisian men and women waver concerning the promise of God, but that they would grow strong in faith as they give glory to God. May they be fully convinced that God is able to do what He has promised.
